A promising start to the new year

Until last year’s end, no substantial conditions enabled the full Dresdner Jazzmeile and major Dixieland-Parade. There is now positive news for visitors to the 52nd INTERNATIONALES DIXIELAND FESTIVAL in May 2024.

We are delighted that popular free city-centre jazz events can proceed. Alongside the Altmarkt spring market main stage, further stages extend from Prager Straße into the historic centre. The parade also proceeds, on a changed route because of simultaneous Dresden events.

This follows a 9 January 2024 Ordnungsamt meeting with the Altstadt district office, economic development, roads/civil engineering, public order, municipal development policy coordinator and culture/heritage protection departments. Their representatives are strong partners preserving traditions popular far beyond Dresden and assisting substantial logistical and financial demands. Particularly welcome were sustainable solutions for future festivals, essential to planning these complex events for everyone.

Our aim is to announce details by late March. Programme changes and restrictions are expected because of concentrated Whitsun events, including Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Frauenkirche events and Rinne Dresden concerts. Crucially, all free concerts proceed in 2024!
